Emma Raducanu said on Wednesday she will miss the French Open and Wimbledon as the English number one recuperates from hand and lower leg medical procedure.
As the British number one recovers from hand and ankle surgery, Emma Raducanu announced on Wednesday that she will be absent from the French Open and Wimbledon.
In recent months, the 2021 US Open champion has struggled with injuries, and in April, he missed the Madrid Open due to a hand injury.
The 20-year-old, who has slipped to 85th on the planet rankings, posted a photograph of herself in an emergency clinic bed with her right hand dressed on her virtual entertainment accounts.
“Unfortunately, it’s not enough. I’m undergoing minor surgery on both hands to correct the issues.I regret to inform you that I will be sidelined for a few months and that, during this time, I will have a second small procedure on my ankle.
Even though I made an effort to downplay the issues, I still feel bad about missing out on the summer events. I want to thank all of my supporters for standing by me through everything.
Raducanu has experienced form and fitness issues ever since her Cinderella run to the US Open title in 2021 as an 18-year-old qualifier. She pulled out of the Madrid Open last month due to a right-hand injury, she claimed.
If she pulls out of Madrid, she will probably drop out of the top 100 in the WTA rankings for the first time since her miraculous comeback in New York.
She also went out in the first round at Stuttgart and Miami, and in the second round of the Australian Open, Coco Gauff defeated her in straight sets.
“It pains me that I will miss the Late Spring events, and even though I tried to downplay the problems, I want to thank all of my supporters for sticking with me even when you didn’t.
