When he plays for England against Pakistan in Karachi, he will be 18 years old and 126 days old;
Teenager is one of two additions to the tourists’ starting lineup as they attempt to sweep the series 3-0;
In place of Will Jacks and James Anderson, wicketkeeper Ben Foakes also steps in.
Teenage leg-spinner Rehan Ahmed will make his debut on Saturday in the final game of the series against Pakistan in Karachi.
When the final Test begins, the Leicestershire player will be 18 years, 126 days old.
This puts him ahead of Brian Close, who was 18 years, 149 days old when he played against New Zealand in Manchester in July 1949.
Ahmed is one of two changes to the Britain side as the vacationers look for a memorable 3-0 series clear and a 10th win in 10 Tests since Ben Stirs up became chief and Brendon McCullum lead trainer.
Ahmed and wicketkeeper Ben Foakes replace seamer James Anderson and off-spinner all-rounder Will Jacks in the team.
Ollie Pope, Foakes’ Surrey teammate, will take the gloves back from him.
Pope played in the first Test in Rawalpindi when Foakes was ill and then kept his spot behind the stumps for the second match in Multan.
Ahmed will not be the youngest person to play a Test for England; that honor belongs to Holly Colvin, who played for the women’s team against Australia in Hove in 2005 at the age of 15 and 336 days.
Stokes:
We must nurture ‘exciting’ Ahmed Stokes stated about Ahmed’s inclusion, who has only played three first-class games:
It’s always exciting to have a wrist spinner, especially for England.
Ahmed was not at first in Britain’s Test crew but rather dazzled Stirs up, McCullum and Britain’s overseeing head of men’s cricket Burglarize Key on a pre-series instructional course in Abu Dhabi.
“We brought him in obviously to try to get him to join us and see what it’s like to be a part of this cricket team, and we’ve been very impressed with what we’ve seen.
In September, while playing for Leicestershire against Derbyshire in the County Championship, he also picked up five wickets and scored a century.
Ahmed also played red-ball cricket for the England Lions against South Africa and made five appearances for Southern Brave in The Hundred this summer.
Stokes added:
” I believe being early on, it’s perfect to see somebody who has such a lot of opportunity in what they do.
He bats like he wants to get on with it and show what he stands for. He has many different shots.
