In 2016, Manchester United purchased Paul Pogba from Juventus for a then-world-record sum of £89.3 million. Six years following leaving Manchester United, the French midfielder is back to Juventus on a free transfer.
After leaving Manchester United, Paul Pogba rejoins Juventus on a free transfer
Pogba is returning to Juventus for the second time, previously having joined the Italian champions from Manchester United in 2012.
Pogba had a spectacular four-year initial spell in Turin, collecting four straight champions leagues as well as two Coppa Italia medals. He would be back with boss Massimiliano Allegri as the team seeks its first Serie A championship since 2020.
Pogba won three titles in his rookie season, although he clashed with then-United manager Jose Mourinho and failed to identify stability beneath Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick.
Pogba had a difficult relationship with Manchester United supporters, who booed him in his final two games against Norwich City and Liverpool.
Pogba is expected to sign a three-year contract extension until 2025, with annual wages of roughly €7.5 million (£6 million/$8 million). Paul Pogba is likely to sign the contract at the beginning of July.
Despite supposedly being offered two contracts for more than £290,000 per week, Pogba claims United gave him “nothing.”
The unsuccessful discussions between the athlete and the club are revealed in the new Amazon Prime documentary dubbed The ‘Pogmentary.’
The Frenchman rejected United’s second offer alongside his late agent Mino Raiola, characterising it as “nothing” as he drove in his Rolls Royce, according to The Athletic, which has had exposure to preview information.
“Paul, you are in an extremely unique circumstance. You’ve got no idea. “You have no idea,” Raiola tells Pogba as he drives through Miami.
Pogba promises at the end of the segment to show Manchester that they got it wrong in delaying to grant him a contract.” And showcase to other teams that Manchester made mistakes by not granting him a deal.
