In a cryptic Instagram post following the team announcement, hurt by the repeated snubs, 25-year-old Sarfaraz Khan gave the selectors a brutal “Don Bradman” reminder.
The absence of Sarfaraz Khan has been the biggest talking point of Team India’s squad announcement for the first two Tests of the upcoming Border-Gavaskar series against Australia at home.
Fans and experts alike are furious and perplexed by the youngster’s continued failure to make the domestic circuit despite his accomplishments over the past three seasons.
Additionally, Sarfaraz has been left wondering what more he can do. After the team announcement, the 25-year-old, hurt by the repeated snub. Posted a cryptic Instagram post with a brutal “Don Bradman” reminder to the selectors.
Sarfaraz scored 928 runs in six matches at 154.66 in the 2019/20 Ranji Trophy season. Including three centuries and two fifties.
He continued his exceptional form in the 2021/22 season, scoring 982 runs at 122.75 with four centuries and two fifties. This season, he has continued the trend, scoring 431 runs at 107.75 with twin tons and a fifty.
Sarfaraz has consistently been overlooked for the Indian team, despite his consistent success in the red-ball format. Additionally, the Mumbai batter posted two cryptic Instagram posts on Saturday.
His Mumbai Ranji Trophy statistics, which showed 2436 runs scored in 30 innings at 110.73, were included in the first.
In the second post, he displayed his career first-class average of 80.47. Which ranks second in the world among batters who have pitched at least 50 innings. Behind only Don Bradman, who is considered to be the greatest player ever.
Aakash Chopra, a former Indian cricketer, had also lashed out at selectors earlier on Saturday. Questioning the logic behind ignoring Sarfaraz when Suryakumar Yadav was made to fit into the 17-member squad for the Test series.
This was followed by Sarfaraz Khan’s Instagram stories (Instagram grab). “The name Sarfaraz is still absent. He believes he was cheated because his name probably should have been included.
Bumrah has not yet arrived. On his YouTube channel, Aakash stated, “That’s another news, but I am more concerned that Sarfaraz is not there.”
“A slot became available, so you chose Surya. Because of his 80-point first-class average, I believe Sarfaraz should have been given that chance. Aakash continued, “Only Don Bradman, outside of him, has an average of 80 or more in the number of matches he has played.”
