Becoming locked in an elevator is one of the most unusual events to occur during a cricket match. The on-field umpires were out in the center when they were informed to stop the game.
And they couldn’t help but smile when they found out Illingworth was caught in the elevator and wasn’t ready.
In a video released by cricket.com.au, Richard Illingworth was seen eventually taking his seat in the third umpire’s room, looking tired.
The on-air analysts speculated if he took the stairs following the little mishap. Illingworth, ever the sportsman, raised his hands at the throng and smiled, knowing he was a part of something strange.
Mitchell Marsh’s fifty puts Australia back on track after an early scare
Australia held a 54-run advantage heading into the second innings, and the plan would have been to bat Pakistan out of the game, as they had done in Perth.
When Shaheen Afridi dismissed both Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne before the conclusion of the first session on Day 3, the visitors came storming back into the Test match.
The Aussies’ woes worsened as Mir Hamza followed Shaheen’s superb performance with back-to-back David Warner and Travis Head strikes.

Pakistan were in command, with Australia behind by just 70 runs at 17/4. Mitchell Marsh’s half-century, on the other hand, steadily re-established the hosts’ dominance.
The all-rounder had a key combination with Steve Smith, helping their team reach 107/4 at tea, with a 161-run advantage.
Pakistan will remember Marsh’s missed opportunity, which might have left the hosts reeling at 46/5.
