Las Vegas Aces guard Riquna Williams, a veteran WNBA player and member of last year’s championship team, has been charged with felony domestic violence against a man authorities say is her husband.
A judge on Wednesday, to be released from jail without bail less than a day, allowed Williams, 33, after her arrest but said she could not have any contact with her alleged victim and must follow an alcohol test until another court appearance on Aug. 2.
According to court records, Williams faces five felony counts, including domestic violence by strangulation, coercion with the threat or use of physical force, and assault with the use of a weapon. She also faces four misdemeanor counts of domestic battery. Williams, a guard and court role player nicknamed “Bay Bay,” averaged 6.7 points last season but hasn’t played this season due to a back injury.

However, she remained silent in shackles behind security glass during his initial appearance in Las Vegas Justice Court. Ryan Bashor, her public defender, told the judge that for five years, she has lived in Nevada and that “there should be no problem with a no-contact order” because the man they accuse of assaulting Williams is “on trial or she’s already done it, moved out of the house.
Prosecutor Glenn O’Brien cited “violence and victim harm” but did not identify the person. It was not clear if the person was injured or required medical treatment. O’Brien remained in court and did not respond to emails seeking details about Williams’ case and the weapon involved, according to police.
On Tuesday, Police responded, just south of the Las Vegas Strip, at a home in the Southern Highlands enclave. The arrest report was not immediately released.
Other updates!
Williams faced league discipline in 2019, a 10-game suspension without pay, or about a third of the season, after his arrest on domestic assault charges. At that time, she was playing for the Los Angeles Sparks. Bashor and Saxe said Wednesday that no criminal charges have been filed against Williams. The Aces are scheduled to play in Dallas on Sunday and travel on Wednesday, respectively.
