William Saliba, a defender for Arsenal, is reportedly out for his team’s Premier League matchup with Liverpool on Sunday (April 9). As per the Night Standard, Saliba has not gotten back to preparing and is confronting a daunting struggle to be good for the imperative conflict with the Merseysiders.
After suffering a back injury in the Gunners’ UEFA Europa League second-leg loss to Sporting CP on March 16, the French center-back has not played in three weeks. Due to the issue, Saliba was forced to withdraw from France’s international duty last week.
This season, the defender has been an important part of Mikel Arteta’s team. He has appeared in 33 matches, scoring four goals and assisting his team in keeping 12 clean sheets. Saliba’s availability will be decided by Arsenal closer to the game against Liverpool at Anfield.
Arteta started last week, but he was unable to provide a timetable for the defender’s return: “He is advancing. He still experiences some back pain. We are attempting to oversee him in the most ideal manner.” Rob Holding is likely to start against Jurgen Klopp’s team in Saliba’s place.
The English defender has taken Saliba’s place during his absence. As they move closer to winning the Premier League, the Gunners will want to maintain their winning streak. With nine games remaining, they are leading the league with an eight-point advantage over Manchester City, who are in second place.
Arsenal will punish Liverpool on Sunday, according to Gary Neville :
Neville believes that Liverpool will lose to the leaders of the Premier League on Sunday at Anfield. The Merseysiders were disappointed in their goalless draw with Chelsea on Tuesday (April 4), despite their position in the top four. They are eighth in the standings, seven points behind the four best teams.
The Heavy weapons specialists’ 26 objectives are the most scored by any side away from home in the association this season. Neville is rooting for Arteta’s team to exploit Liverpool’s weak defense. After the Reds’ draw with Chelsea, he told Sky Sports:
“They would be well behind in the game on Sunday if they were to give Arsenal the chances they gave Chelsea tonight.” The team under Klopp has had a difficult season marred by injuries. Despite their shaky defense, they have only given up nine goals at Anfield. In the opposing match at the Emirates earlier in the season, the Gunners prevailed 3-2 in October.
