As Rahul Dravid and the rest of the coaching staff have been rested, India A head coach VVS Laxman, assistants Hrishikesh Kanitkar and Sairaj Bahutale, are currently in New Zealand with the senior team.
ESPN Cricinfo reports that Kotak will be joined at the NCA by Australian bowling coach Troy Cooley and Indian fielding coach T Dilip. Dilip will start out working as a coach for the “A” team before joining Rahul Dravid and co. when the senior team’s tour of Bangladesh starts.
Abhimanyu Easwaran’s “A” team arrived in Dhaka on Saturday to get ready for their short tour, which includes two four-day matches. When the tour comes to an end on December 9, the squad, which includes both international superstars and senior players, will split up.
Cheteshwar Pujara, Umesh Yadav, and KS Bharat, among others, will join the senior team, while the rest will cross the border to prepare for the Ranji Trophy season, which begins on December 13.
SS Das, a former player who is now a member of the NCA Staff, was also considered for the makeshift coaching staff, but he was not taken into consideration because he is currently competing for a spot on the national team selection panel.
For the two-match Test series against Bangladesh, Saurabh Kumar, who is a member of the “A” squad, may take Ravindra Jadeja’s place in the senior team. After initially being named, the all-rounder has been ruled out of the ODI squad, but it appears that his knee injury will require more time to heal.
