During the summer, offers for Mason Mount, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Hakim Ziyech, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and Conor Gallagher are said to be coming into Chelsea. Following the recent spending spree of the west London club, a fire sale is set to begin at Stamford Bridge.
Since Todd Boehly became the club’s cooperating owner in May, the Blues have spent more than £600 million on players like Enzo Fernandez (£108.6 million), Mykhaylo Mudryk (£88.5 million), and Wesley Fofana (£75 million). Five of Chelsea’s first-team players will be sold in an apparent effort to balance their books.
Mount is the most well-known person on the list of possible departees. Mount has been in discussions with the Blues regarding a new contract, which will expire in 2024. Liverpool has been touted as a potential suitor, but negotiations for an extension have stalled. If the terms can’t be agreed upon, the team led by Graham Potter could authorize a departure for Mount.
In 30 games across all competitions this season, the former Derby County loanee has scored three goals and provided six assists. During the January transfer window, Aubameyang, Ziyech, Loftus-Cheek, and Gallagher were all available for purchase. However, the four have remained at Chelsea but have struggled to establish themselves as regulars in the first team.
The Premier League giants acquired Aubameyang from Barcelona last summer for £10.8 million. He has had a terrible time at Stamford Bridge, scoring only three goals in 18 games across all competitions. The Blues’ team for the UEFA Champions League knockout stage dropped the former Arsenal striker. Los Angeles FC in the Major League Soccer has been in the running for him.
However, there was a lot of talk about Ziyech moving to Paris Saint-Germain. The Moroccan’s January move to the leaders of Ligue 1 is thought to have been scuppered only by the Blues’ late submission of paperwork. This season, he has played for the Blues 18 times and contributed an assist. In 2024, Loftus-Cheek’s Chelsea contract comes to an end.
However, throughout his career, he has frequently suffered from injuries. In 22 games this season, the English midfielder has one assist. In the meantime, Gallagher impressed while on loan at Crystal Palace last season. However, his performance since his summer return to Stamford Bridge has not been quite as impressive.
This season, the English midfielder has appeared in 27 games across all competitions, assisting on one goal. Last month, Everton and Newcastle United expressed an interest in him, but neither team made an offer.
Potter, manager of Chelsea, discusses contract negotiations with Mason Mount:
Due to the persistent delay in a breakthrough in his contract extension negotiations, Mason Mount’s future at Chelsea is uncertain. According to the Mirror, his manager has commented on the negotiations and stated that he will leave it up to the player and the club:
“I believe it is always complex; There will always be talks. It would be best if I separated Mason and the club from it; that, in my opinion, is the most effective strategy for dealing with that.” Mason Mount made his senior debut in 2019 after rising through the ranks at Stamford Bridge.
In 190 games across all competitions, he has scored 33 goals and provided 37 assists. With the Blues, the English forward has won the UEFA Super Cup, UEFA Champions League, and FIFA Club World Cup.
