Arsenal, who are currently in first place in the Premier League, will look to add players to their roster in January, but they must find those with the proper traits, manager Mikel Arteta said on Thursday. Check out complete details about it below.
According to Mikel Arteta, Arsenal will be adding to its roster in January
After 14 games, the Gunners led winners Manchester City by five points, but Brazil striker Gabriel Jesus will be out for the long term after undergoing surgery for a knee injury he received in Qatar.
Arteta informed reporters before to West Ham United’s visit on December 26 that “we’re going to be active (in the January window) and that means we’re aiming to reinforce the team.”
“This team still does not have the luxury of being able to ignore the necessity to maximize every window. But the appropriate player must be involved. We are aware of our squad’s and our number’s position. Regarding what we wish to undertake in the window, we will exercise tremendous caution.
Losing Jesus and not knowing when he would be back in action, according to Arteta, was a devastating blow. Due to a hamstring injury, winger Reiss Nelson will probably be sidelined for a time, while offensive midfielder Emile Smith Rowe is getting closer to making his comeback from a groin ailment.
“With Gabi, it’s challenging to assign a time limit. Given what I know about him, I prefer not to provide a date,” Arteta said.
“With Reiss, he’ll be gone for a while” (weeks). Emile is near. He experienced a setback, but he is almost there.
William Saliba, a center defender for France, won’t play either since he hasn’t yet been home from international duty.
