According to Aakash Chopra: A former cricketer for India, has praised all-arounder Shardul Thakur and claimed that his bowling abilities are not given enough respect.
In the third one-day international against the West Indies. Shardul shone with the ball and helped India win the match by a massive margin of 200 runs. He took four wickets as the Men in Blue dismissed the hosts for 151 while holding the opposition to 351 runs.
Chopra was enthralled with Shardul’s ability to take wickets. The runs the all-rounder, who was born in Maharashtra, surrenders when bowling also surprised the former cricketer-turned-commentator.
“Aakash Chopra stated in Jio Cinema that Shardul already grabbed three wickets in the last game. He receives virtually little praise for his bowling technique. I’m attempting to understand how he manages to take so many wickets while still being pricey.”
In evaluating Shardul Thakur’s bowling in further detail. Chopra made note of the former’s propensity for bowling wicket-taking deliveries and high level of self-assurance.
We say it’s wicket-taking luck, but if you watch Shardul, the reason he has the luck is that he bowls in those places & he has a lot of conviction. If you ever ask him, “How do you do?”Equal to Dennis Lillee! He would respond. I admire him for having that confidence, he continued.
With eight wickets, Shardul Thakur finished as the series’ top wicket-taker in the three-match ODI series against the West Indies.
According To Aakash Chopra on Shardul Thakur: “If you are taking three wickets, the economy shouldn’t be much of a concern”
In limited-overs cricket, the all-rounder for Team India’s high economy rate has been a source of worry. In ODIs, Shardul Thakur’s economy rate is 6.16, but in the shortest format, it soars to 9.15.
However, Aakash Chopra said that if he is taking three wickets in a game, the economy shouldn’t be an issue.
“The economy shouldn’t be a major concern if you take three wickets because the goal of 300 will be set. He must offer between 6.1 and 6.2 runs per over and cannot give more. The likelihood of him getting a wicket is pretty high given the number of balls he delivers, according to Chopra.”
The five-match T20 series against the West Indies, which begins on Thursday, August 3 in Trinidad, will be Shardul’s next opportunity to play.
