Sanju Samson’s aggressive approach in the third One-Day International between India and the West Indies has been praised by Abhishek Nayar.
The Men in Blue set a lofty 352-run total for the Windies in Trinidad on Tuesday, August 1. Samson hit 51 runs off 41 balls during that time. The visitors won convincingly by 200 runs to take the series 2-1 as the Indian bowlers cleaned out the hosts for 151.
Nayar was asked if Samson had struck two sixes at Yannic Cariah’s bowling early in his games during a conversation at JioCinema where it was commonly considered that Samson was somewhat stuck in the leg-spinner struggle. Nayar’s response was:
“I was ecstatic about him.
You canwatch a beginnerplay the same spinner whilehitting one duringthe game. I appreciated how strongly he played. He was removed by the bowler and came back to fight Hasaranga when he played RCB in the IPL.
The previous Indian all-rounder continued:
This mindset is really appealing to me since it demonstrates your inherent bravery. He can go play big shots on his own without you telling him to. He is acting on his own initiative and making the decision to assault him and deny him the opportunity to bowl in those conditions.
In the second ODI against the Windies, Cariah’s bowling caused Samson to be caught at slip. On Tuesday, he struck two sixes off the leg-spinner’s first four deliveries to start his innings in spectacular fashion.
This is the reason you hear that Sanju Samson’s deserves a second chance so often (Abhishek Nayar)
The strike on Tuesday, according to Abhishek Nayar.
Thisshowed why Sanju Samson wasunderconstantpressuretoaddhimto the list. He stated:
Because of this, people frequently suggest that Sanju Samson be given a chance or that he be cast in a role. It is only once he enters and plays dynamic innings that you can alter the game’s momentum.
Former cricketer turned broadcaster stressed how Samson’s aggressive play allowed Hardik Pandya to get his eye in at the start of his innings. He noticed:
“Yes, he just scored 50 or so runs, but the impact of those 50 or so runs gave Hardik Pandya time. Because of that, Hardik Pandya was able to play that inning. Sanju Samson’s impact on the game really astonished me.
Samson controlled his 69-run third-wicket partnership with Shubman Gill, hitting two fours and four sixes. After getting off to a poor start, Pandya. Who came in to replace the Kerala wicketkeeper-batter at the crease, smashed an unbroken 70 off 52 deliveries.
