ABD’s eye surgery and intent of comeback, here’s what you need to know!
ABD’s eye surgery and intent of comeback, here’s what you need to know! AB de Villiers used to play cricket for South Africa. However, he recently had eye surgery, which has ended his hopes of playing at the highest level again. He said he was done with international cricket in May 2018. Later, even though there was a lot of talk about him coming back, he has never played for South Africa again.
De Villiers kept playing in the Indian Premier League for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (IPL). But in November of last year, he said he was done with all forms of the game. This time, he had no chance of coming back to the sport. But he still had a slight chance at the game before the eye surgery.
Regarding the fact that AB de Villiers won’t be coming back to the top level of sports, he himself declared it live on Twitter. He said that he had surgery because his retinal eye detachment was getting more impaired. However, he also noted that there is no chance that he will play the sport again.
Going back to Chinnaswamy?
In the same conversation, AB de Villiers confirmed that he would return to the Chinnaswamy stadium next year, but not as a player. Instead, he wants to thank the fans of RCB for supporting him during his time in the IPL. “I will return to Chinnaswamy next year, not for playing but to thank all the fans for the support over a decade,” De Villiers declared.
The 38-year-old is one of the best players in IPL history. He has played in 184 of the T20 tournament’s games. He got 5162 runs, with an average of 39.7 and a strike rate of 151.7. This proves he was a great asset to his team. De Villiers won a lot of games for both RCB and South Africa, and he will always be one of the best cricket players the world has ever seen.
He participated in 114 Tests, 228 ODIs, and 78 T20Is for the Proteas. Over the course of his international career, he scored more than 18,000 runs.
