De Villiers played international cricket for over 15 years, captivating fans worldwide with his creative batting and countless match-winning exploits.
He concluded his career with nearly 20,000 runs in all formats, including 47 hundreds and the quickest ODI ton off 31 deliveries.
The former Pakistan captain also named Steve Smith as the batsman with the finest cover drive in international cricket.
Babar also went on to impart the life lessons he acquired before becoming a cricket legend.
The 29-year-old is perhaps the finest hitter in the world across forms, having scored over 13,000 runs, including an amazing 31 centuries.
He recently abandoned captaincy in all forms following Pakistan’s disappointing 2023 World Cup campaign, in which the team failed to advance to the semi-final.
Babar Azam chooses his favorite knocks across forms
Babar Azam’s favorite Test innings against Australia were 104 in Brisbane and 196 in Karachi. The former occurred in Pakistan’s second innings in a losing effort.
While the latter almost led Pakistan to a spectacular run chase of 506 before the match ended in a tie.
Despite Pakistan’s three-wicket loss to England in Birmingham in 2021, the elegant hitter chose 158 as his favorite ODI knock.
Babar was part of Pakistan’s catastrophic Trans-Tasmanian trip, which included a 0-3 Test series loss to Australia and a 1-4 T20I defeat to New Zealand.
Despite failing to register a half-century in the Australia Tests, the champion batter rediscovered form and struck half-centuries in three of the five Twenty20 Internationals against New Zealand.
