Umran is not among the 16-member Indian team for the forthcoming T20I series against Afghanistan.
He was not selected for the recently finished multi-format trip of South Africa, nor for the India A team or the intra-squad practice games.
Chopra pondered on some of the most perplexing recent Indian decisions in a video posted to his YouTube account.

The former India opener questioned why the Jammu and Kashmir speedster had suddenly vanished.
Umran scored a brilliant 2/9 in 2.1 overs in his previous T20I against New Zealand in February of last year.
However, he had a poor performance in the IPL 2023 and was costly in the two ODIs he played on the West Indies trip, and he has not been chosen since.

Chopra also stated that the Men in Blue had yet to confirm their top spinners. He reasoned that the selections alternated between Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja.
He also stated that they are still deciding between Kuldeep Yadav and Ravi Bishnoi as their first choice wrist-spinner.
