India, the tournament’s hosts, will begin a week-long goalkeeping and specialised drag-flick training camp on Wednesday at the SAI Centre in Bengaluru as part of their preparation for the FIH men’s World Cup that will begin on July 18.

Bram Lomans and Dennis Van De Pol, two-time Olympic winners from the Netherlands, will keep a close eye on the camp, which will end on December 20.
Before the game’s championship, which will be contested in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela from January 13 to 29, Lomans will work with the Indian drag flickers while his countryman Van De Pol will polish the goalkeepers.
The two-week long national coaching camp began on Monday and will include the specialised camp.
There will be 33 core probables at the national camp.
In preparation for the World Cup, Hockey India and SAI organised a unique drag-flick and goalkeeping training, for which we are grateful.
