    In the past, Royal Challengers Bangalore had purchased T20 superstars like Chris Gayle and AB De Villiers to help them win matches. They may have struggled with the retirement of AB De Villiers and the appointment of their captain, Virat Kohli, who will stand down after 2021.

    While both are experienced in this format, Dhawan is currently the hottest player in the tour. This may cause all teams to splurge and bid on him, which would likely lead to RCB spending big at auction. Finch has not previously had a lot of success with De Villiers and Maxwell before now as well. With De Villiers essentially appointed captain, Finch might now have more opportunity now that he’s got a bigger leash.

With the retirement of AB de Villiers, RCB’s selection process has been made a little easier since he was put on the retention list.
