1. Finn Allen – 137 vs Pakistan
Finn Allen leads the list of New Zealand batsmen’ highest individual scores in T20Is. The 24-year-old opener attacked the opposition right away, creaming Pakistani bowlers all over the University Oval.
Finn Allen formed a 125-run partnership with Tim Seifert, scoring over 75% of the runs, demonstrating his domination in the game.
Overall, he contributed nearly 65% of the runs scored by Kiwi hitters. He also hit 16 of the 18 sixes struck in the New Zealand innings.
2. Brendon McCullum – 123 vs Bangladesh
Brendon McCullum held the record for the greatest individual score by a New Zealander in T20Is for over 15 years, before Finn Allen shattered it earlier today.
In a 2012 T20 World Cup Group D encounter against Bangladesh, McCullum struck 123 runs in 58 balls with a strike rate of 212.06.
The Kiwis scored 191/3, thanks to the right-handed batter’s magnificent knock, which included 11 fours and seven sixes.
The Tigers could only score 132/8 in 20 overs, resulting in a 59-run win for New Zealand.
3. Brendon McCullum – 116 vs Australia
Brendon McCullum, perhaps the finest T20 hitter in New Zealand history, achieved the country’s first century in the game’s shortest format.
Prior to this, McCullum’s 69* against India in 2009 was the best T20I score by a Kiwi batsman. He went on to hit an undefeated 116 against Australia in Christchurch in 2010.
Despite wickets falling at regular intervals on the other end, McCullum went about his job with ease, smashing 12 fours and eight sixes to enable the Kiwis score 214/6.
Australia equaled the score but lost in the subsequent Super Over.
4. Colin Munro – 109 vs India
Colin Munro had the strongest time of his T20I career to date in 2017 and 2018, scoring three century in the format. However, he earned three ducks in 2017, demonstrating his erratic character.
Munro’s unbroken 109 in Rajkot drove the Kiwis to a total of 196/2. Despite Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni’s best efforts, India fell 41 runs short of their objective. India won the remaining two matches to win the series 2-1.
5. Glenn Phillips – 108 vs West Indies
Glenn Phillips, one of the most talented and well-rounded players of recent times, demonstrated his batting prowess against the West Indies in Mount Maunganui in 2020.
He hit 108 from only 51 balls, including 10 fours and eight maximums.
New Zealand scored a magnificent 238/3, with Martin Guptill and Devon Conway making significant contributions.
The West Indies faced an uphill struggle and never seemed like accomplishing their goal. They lost by 72 runs.
