Tailender Aamer Jamal hit a brilliant 82 off 97 against Australia in the current third Test on January 3 (Wednesday) at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
Jamal, who batted at No. 9 for Pakistan, counter-attacked the formidable Australian bowling attack and thrilled the spectators with his spectacular strokeplay.
The 27-year-old batted with his team behind at 220/7. As Australia sought to end the innings as soon as possible, the scoreboard read 227/9.
Jamal, on the other hand, proved to be a thorn in the hosts’ side, smashing his way to his maiden Test fifty.
If the Australian pacers hit it short, Jamal didn’t hesitate to tug it to the leg side. He even reverse-swept Nathan Lyon over a deep point for a spectacular six.
Jamal was the single reason Pakistan managed to score more than 300, as his 82 accounted for more than a quarter of Pakistan’s first-innings total of 313.
His exciting innings was cut short when he was caught at long-on off Lyon’s bowling.
Jamal set a few records on his way to the big fifty. Here is a list of five such achievements by Aamer Jamal throughout his 82-game career against Australia in Sydney.

Jamal would have become the highest No. 9 individual run-scorer at SCG if he had scored four more runs.
However, he currently ranks first among visiting hitters. Jamal’s 82 is the highest individual score ever recorded by a visitor hitter at SCG.
