The IPL 2023 Auction took place in Kochi on December 23. At the mini-auction, the ten IPL teams added some world-class talent to their rosters. Sam Curran, an England all-rounder, sold for the most at the IPL 2023 Auction. The pace-bowling star was signed by the Punjab Kings for 18.5 crore rupees.
In addition, Mumbai Indians paid 17.5 crore rupees for Cameron Green, and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) paid 16.25 crore rupees for Ben Stokes. The three pace-bowling all-rounders had a memorable day because they now have the most expensive IPL contracts.
Regarding Stokes’s move to the Chennai Super Kings for the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2023, the England all-rounder will spend the CSK camp with his three former Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) teammates. In light of this, the four players who played for RPS in 2017 and will represent CSK in the IPL 2023 are listed below.
#1 Ben Stokes
Ben Stokes has joined the Chennai Super Kings, as previously stated. Many IPL fans will recall Stokes’ 2017 appearance for the Rising Pune Supergiant in his debut season. That season, he won the award for Most Valuable Player.
In terms of his IPL 2017 stats, Stokes played in 12 games and scored 316 runs at an average of 31.60. His strike rate was 142.99 and his highest score that season was 103*.
At an economy rate of 7.18, Stokes took 12 wickets in the bowling department. The England all-rounder’s IPL 2017 heroics in the yellow jersey will be hoped for by CSK fans next season.
#2 MS Dhoni
MS Dhoni was the wicket-guardian for the Rising Pune Supergiant group in IPL 2017. In 2016, he was the captain of the team, but the owners fired him because RPS didn’t make the playoffs in their first season. Steve Smith took over for Dhoni as captain.
Dhoni played 16 counterparts for Pune in 2017, collecting 290 runs at a strike rate of 116. His season’s highest score was 61*. In 2018, the wicket-keeper batsman rejoined Chennai Super Kings.
#3 Deepak Chahar
In 2016, Deepak Chahar made his Rising Pune Supergiant debut. He stayed a piece of the Pune-based establishment in 2017 too prior to moving to the Chennai Super Rulers in 2018.
Regarding Chahar’s performance in the IPL 2017, he took one wicket at an economy rate of 10.57 in three matches. The all-rounder did not play in the IPL in 2022, but CSK has kept him for the IPL in 2023.
#4 Ajinkya Rahane
The Chennai Super Kings signed Rahane as one of the players at the IPL 2023 Auction. At his base price of 50 lakh rupees, CSK convinced him to sign. In 2017, Rahane, like Deepak Chahar, MS Dhoni, and Ben Stokes, wore the Rising Pune Supergiant uniform.
He had a respectable trip in IPL 2017 as he collected 382 runs in 16 innings at a strike rate of 118.27. Rahane appears to be Chennai Super Kings’ backup opener in the IPL 2023. The seasoned batter will want to make the most of every opportunity that comes his way.
