3 young LSG hitters to keep an eye out for in the IPL 2024
The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are one of the strongest teams heading into the IPL 2024.
The franchise has assembled a formidable roster, ranging from veteran combatants like as skipper KL Rahul and Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis to young and promising possibilities such as Ayush Badoni.
The LSG club has made the playoffs in the last two seasons but has yet to win a title. This season, in an effort to finally claim the crown, the squad has acquired several new players to its lineup.
Devdutt Padikkal was moved to LSG from the Rajasthan Royals. They will also enjoy the services of young Indian players, such as Arshin Kulkarni and Shivam Mavi.
1. Devdutt Padikkal was transferred to LSG from the Rajasthan Royals before of IPL 2024
The left-handed batsman from Karnataka, who made his Test debut for India in the fifth match against England, will play for LSG this season.
Devdutt Padikkal made a great debut, scoring a half-century in his first Test innings. The LSG hitter has also played two T20Is for India, but has failed to produce.
Now, he’ll be hoping to score runs for his new team and impress selectors ahead of the T20 World Cup.
Meanwhile, Padikkal has already played 57 IPL matches. The 23-year-old has 1521 runs at a strike rate of 125.3, including an IPL century.
However, he had a forgettable season in 2023, scoring only 261 runs in 11 matches. He hopes to become the go-to man for his new franchise this year.
2. Ayush Badoni
Ayush Badoni, the Delhi Ranji player, is second on the list. When Gautam Gambhir served as LSG’s trainer, he was selected by the franchise in 2022 for INR 20 lakh.
The 24-year-old batsman has played 28 IPL games, accumulating 399 runs with a strike rate of 132.2.
Ayush Badoni was mostly utilized as an impact sub last season, when he scored at a strike rate of 138.7 and reached the half-century mark.
LSG is expected to continue to utilize him as an impact sub, and Badoni will be hoping to improve his record by delivering match-winning performances for his team.
3. Arshin Kulkarni
Arshin Kulkarni is touted as a rising talent. The 19-year-old was purchased by LSG for INR 20 lakhs during the 2024 IPL auction.
Arshin was recently spotted representing India at the under-19 World Cup in 2024.
He scored 189 runs at the event, including a century against the USA. The kid may also provide a medium pace. He claimed four wickets in the World Cup.
Arshin has played six T20 matches and scored 121 runs, with an exceptional strike rate of 163.5.
Playing in the IPL would benefit the kid from Maharashtra, who is still learning. Overall, Arshin will want to amaze everyone with his all-around abilities.
