The 2023 Formula One season of Charles Leclerc has started badly. The Ferrari driver has two DNFs in the initial three races in what has been his most horrendously terrible beginning to a season beginning around 2018. Since this season’s racing began, not much has been going well for him. He was on his way to finishing in P3 in Bahrain when a PU failure prevented him from finishing. His third race ended on the very first lap due to a collision, while his second race was hampered by a grid penalty due to a change in PU components.
The young driver has endured far too much heartbreak, and the season has only just begun. Add to that the grievous 2022 F1 season where extremely many issues wrecked his title crusade, one can’t be blamed for accepting that Leclerc isn’t in the best temper at this moment.
The Monegasque driver is aware that he has the potential to win the world championship, but he does not really have the support of his team or those around him. Being a part of Ferrari is great and an honor, but the team hasn’t won a championship since 2008.
The team has had a string of majorly disappointing seasons, none of which have resulted in any progress. The best course of action for a driver like Leclerc in a situation like this is to take a step back and possibly consider his next career move.
#1 Ferrari is a falling to pieces juggernaut
We should look at more than just what has happened since 2007 in order to comprehend Ferrari. We have to look further than that. it must examine not only the Michael Schumacher era but also the two decades before that. Ferrari has been a political mess since the 1980s. The team has been hampered by ineffective organizations and power struggles.
Schumacher joined Ferrari in 1996 however that being said, the group had not won anything for over 10 years. In order for the German to transform the team into a championship-winning juggernaut, he had to wait another four to five years. He worked tirelessly during that time to rescue the team from a similar downward spiral of underperformance.
#2 There might be some new possibilities.
F1 is changing in terms of opportunities and possibilities, and almost everyone needs to learn from Lewis Hamilton on how to time a career move as a driver. Hamilton had a keen eye, and he saw Mercedes’ potential before anyone else did.
Therefore, he set up his profession with a dazzling move in 2012. This season, Aston Martin and Fernando Alonso’s rise to the top has demonstrated that, with a keen eye, a team that has the potential to rise to the top can be identified.
#3 Charles Leclerc wants to change things up.
Leclerc needs a change because of the mental exhaustion he may be experiencing at Ferrari, which is another very important reason. Since 2019, the driver has been a part of the team. Since that game changing season, he has seen unreasonably numerous things that could be considered intellectually burdening.
Be it the appalling 2020 F1 season, where Ferrari’s power unit decision left the group on the back foot. Or the F1 seasons of 2022 and 2023, when Leclerc’s stunning drives are still constrained by what appears to be a less-than-efficient outfit.
