Three Indian players will try to make the most of the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka India will play Sri Lanka just months before the World Cup. In October, the marquee tournament will take place in India.
The Men in Blue will try to figure out who will open, who will be an authentic all-rounder, and who will bowl death overs in three matches against Sri Lanka.
On January 10, 12, and 15, respectively, the One-Day Internationals will be played in Guwahati, Kolkata, and Trivandrum.
The following three Indian players will attempt to maximize the Ind vs. SL series:
#3 KL Rahul
KL Rahul has improved his game in a number of ways to keep his spot in the starting XI. He opened the innings, batted at No. 1, and took wickets. 5 wore the vice-captain’s uniform and more. Despite this, the Karnataka batsman had a forgettable 2022.
There is one opening slot left after captain Rohit Sharma returned, and Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill have also applied for it.
As a result, Rahul may have to bat lower if given the chance. However, in his 13 ODIs as number five, he has scored 548 runs at an impressive 49.8 average.
He will try to make the most of the opportunities he gets in this series and get back the respect of fans and selectors.
#2 Shreyas Iyer
With nearly 1,500 runs across all three formats, Shreyas Iyer was India’s leading run-getter in 2022. He was not, however, included in the T20 World Cup squad. He faces strong competition from Suryakumar Yadav even in one-day internationals.
The Mumbai batsman will attempt to kick off 2023 with a bang and advance in the already competitive middle-order race.
#1 Umran Malik
With Jasprit Bumrah out because of concerns about his fitness, 23-year-old Umran Malik is likely to play in the one-day internationals against Sri Lanka. During the recently concluded T20 series, the young speedster from Jammu and Kashmir impressed and won the most wickets.
In the three-match T20 series against Sri Lanka, he took seven wickets.
He will attempt to maintain the momentum and contend for a spot in the ODI World Cup.
