2022 NBA Draft Night – Who were the biggest winners and losers
NBA draft provided a lot of amusement and left greater scope for debates. NBA draft 2022 is here, after a lot of speculations, and rumors, we have got to know which players are going where. Some of the teams turned their franchise around really well and others went out of the line. Let’s discuss the winners and losers of the NBA 2022 draft.
Houston rockets
The Houston Rockets turned out to be one of the biggest winners of the NBA draft in 2022. One of the reasons was choosing Jabari Smith. People had high hopes for smith. Experts projected Smith as the best pick overall. most didn’t expect him to fall below the second round of selection. but the Orlando Magic changed the game and shocked many by picking up Paolo Banchero with the first selection. Later, the Thunder drafted Chet Holmgren which left the Rockets a way open for smith.
Detroit piston
Jaden Ivey was mostly looked after as the number 4 pick among many drafts. but when Ivey chose the Detroit Pistons, it was surprising in general. Piston paired with Cade Cunningham, who was last year’s number one pick overall. Piston traded with Knick and gained rights to Jalen Duren and they also received Kemba walker. Their game was impressive and shocking to many.
New Orleans Pelicans
This team has the highest potential to move ahead. and their potential elevated up to the sky after their 2022 draft came up. The Pelicans chose Dyson Daniels with the 8th overall pick. They kicked everyone off with their amazing pick. Daniels is known to be one of the strongest perimeter defenders with a high offensive ceiling, actually, in G- league ignites.
Daniels was not the gem of the day for pelicans, the actual distinction was made by E.j.liddell. Liddell was portrayed as a first-round pick before the Pelicans bagged Liddell at 41 pick number. If Zion Williamson comes back, healthy playing time for Liddell will be short. he has one of the highest ceilings till now. New Orleans is building support for young talents out there.
2020 NBA draft losers
New York’s knicks
call it the knicks strategy or game plan but fans were not pleased with the way they did things. New York then gained the overall pick with $18 million in cap space. They entered with the no. 11 pick but didn’t use the opportunity.
After the different draft day trades, they got away with three first-round picks. However, all of them are lottery protected. They reportedly want to use cap space for Jalen Bruson. It might look good in the future, but currently, they are clearly lacking.
Sacramento Kings
Yet again the Kings failed to get hold of drafts, going four fits over the best available players. The Sacramento Kings yet again prepared for the cardinal draft. They had the most star-power for the players left on board, but they traded for Iowa Keegan Murray.
