The third Lanka Premier League will begin on December 6 and run until December 23. The tournament was originally scheduled to take place in August, but the economic situation in Sri Lanka forced it to be postponed. The tournament will now be back on track and feature the usual five teams: the Jaffna Kings, who have won the previous two editions, the Colombo Stars, the Dambulla Giants, the Galle Gladiators, and the Kandy Falcons.
Thisara Perera, Angelo Mathews, Dasun Shanaka, Kusal Mendis, and Wanindu Hasaranga will lead them. As brand ambassadors, this edition will feature icons like Viv Richards, Wasim Akram, and Sanath Jayasuriya. The games will be played in a round-robin format, which means that each team will play every other team twice.
The league stage will go on until December 19 at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium in Hambantota, the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele, Kandy, and the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
