2022 Finetwork FIM JuniorGP™ World Championship- Witnessed an incredible day of racing.
2022 Finetwork FIM JuniorGP™ World Championship- Witnessed an incredible day of racing. It was an incredible day for the 2022 Finetwork FIM JuniorGP™ World Championship, and that too in all three segments at the iconic Circuito de Jerez – Angel Nieto. This Spanish venue received riders and teams for the 4th Round of this Championship.
In this World Championship, it remained an easy first win for Collin Veijer (AGR Team) in Race 1 till the time Jose Antonio Rueda, the Championship leader returned in Race 2. For Alex Escrig (Yamaha Philippines Stylobike Racing Team), it was a career-first win in the Moto2™ European Championship.
A battle can be seen between Veijer, Rueda, Syarifuddin Azman (SIC Racing), Angel Piqueras (Team Estrella Galicia 0,0), and David Salvador (Laglisse Academy). They kicked off, with no right prediction.
During the closing stages, Veijer was looking strong in the third and fourth segments and hit the front, when in the final lap. Salvador crashed at Turn 11 and chased him down. Rueda failed to get through, and Veijer took charge of him and the Netherlands to mark the maiden victory in the class.
Race 2 started in the afternoon, and it was an outstanding performance to witness from Rueda. He was a clear choice and won by over eight seconds. The race remained highly entertaining as a few seconds battle witnessed ten riders striving hard for the win.
David Alonso (Aspar Junior Team) returned after a bit disappointing Race 1 and cross-line 2 in Race 2, staying ahead of Eddie O’Shea (British Talent Team), and David Almansa (Finetwork Mir Racing Team).
The podium got investigated, and Alonso was moved to fourth for exceeding the track limits. Almansa and O’Shea got promoted to the first podiums – O’Shea moved from the fifth row in some five seconds to catch the riders ahead of him. Jose Antonio Rueda is heading the standings by 71 points and is ahead of Salvador.
The sole Moto2™ ECh encounter remained interesting till the closing stages. It was a four-rider fight:
- Alex Escrig and Xavi Cardelus (Promoracing)
- Senna Agius and Lukas Tulovic (Liqui Moly Intact GP Junior Team)
After some mistakes, Tulovic was fourth but quickly moved to second ahead of Cardelus and Agius, but it remained difficult to catch Escrig, and he was the 32nd different winner of Moto2™ ECh, bagging the first win.
There was late drama as Mattia Rato (MMR) took out teammate Tommaso Marcon at the final corner on the last lap, whilst it was Juan Rodriguez (Cuna Campeones) who took top Stock honors.
The Hawkers ETC races remained electrifying, and in the final lap, Boggio bagged the honor to give Italy the fifth win in the category and emerged as the tenth different winner in the Hawkers ETC at Jerez.
Race 2 remained a carbon copy of the beginning. Moodley again moved from the line, but there was a pack of riders for the position. After a critical final lap, O’Gorman moved from third to first to the held position but was later dragged out to the line by Boggio.
O’Gorman covered the line second, but alas, the Irishman moved down to third for track limit exceeding, Uriarte promoted to the second position of the day. Boggio emerged as the new Championship leader by a solo point over Esteban.
