Following Barcelona’s 4-2 victory, a significant number of ultra-conservative Espanyol supporters jumped onto the field and made their way toward the players who were singing and celebrating the Spanish league title, according to a statement released by the league on Monday.

Before quickly dispersing, the Espanyol supporters threw chairs and other items. Despite the club’s apology, the investigation is likely to result in sanctions. Espanyol is presently in last spot and at risk for being consigned with four games remaining. Barcelona won its 27th association championship by defeating the local opponent.
