15 Australian T20 stars offered big UAE contracts
15 Australian T20 stars offered big UAE contracts: Reports in The Sydney Morning Herald revealed that the International League T20 has targeted fifteen members of the Australian National Cricket Team and offered them huge contracts worth up to $700,000 a year to abandon their Big Bash League membership.
Next year, the UAE T20 League will be a 6-team tournament, and each team will play two whole matches against each other, before playing four playoff games.
The first edition of the tournament was originally scheduled to take place in January and February, but it was rescheduled for the Pakistan Super League.
Meanwhile, Australian players are reported to be being targeted by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) T20 league. Consequently, David Warner, a BBL player without a contract, is expected to play for them. Cricket Australia could lose more players due to their big contracts.
CA is in talks with Warner and Chris Lynn, who lost his contract with Brisbane Heat last year, wants to sign up for the Indian T20 League. If Lynn signs up for the Adelaide Strikers, he might not be able to play in the UAE T20 League.
The ILT20 is promising great financial security to players, but only if Cricket Australia and the Australian Cricketers Association can stay afloat in the face of competition from the IPL.
“We’ve seen some great performances,” said Todd Greenberg.
The players in this response were not only thinking about the short-term but also how they can contribute to the future of professionalising esports. Greenberg told The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald that they have been very mature in their communication with him.
He says that without genuine care for the game, mercenaries would not be interested in it and would only use it for weapons. But they have a conscious concern and are using their skills to change the game rather than exploit it. This comes down to defining trust with your consumers and building relationships with them.
Sometimes you need to give players or coaches information they truly need rather than what they want to hear. In our business, we’re not in the business of being sycophants – we sometimes have to tell people exactly what they should be doing with a long-term focus on the subject.
David Greenberg said CA will attempt to make the best offer to the star batter Warner, so he may return to Big Bash cricket. I am told that, under league rules, CA must stay below a certain price for any player involved in a tournament and that includes Dave.
Rodriguez says that the club wants to offer their best players the best contract, so it is important for the model and profitability of the team. It is a balance between attracting the best players and making sure everyone has fair compensation to be apart of the team.
He agrees that this season has been difficult and they have worked with CA to support the concept of an international draft. It’s not perfect, it’s a very inexact science, but we are trying something and are willing to try everything in order to grow the league both short-term and long-term.
Todd Greenberg said that the cricket ecosystem is under increasing pressure and stress with the birth of new leagues all around the world.
HE said, The main difference between cricket and rugby and soccer is that rugby, basketball, and football are more local sports whereas cricket has a global audience.
He mentions the challenge of foreign players getting a lot more commercial opportunities, while players want to play in the country’s main league. This is an issue with no quick fix, which is why we need to cooperate and grow revenue in the sport so that we can remain competitive.
